Privacy Policy

Overview

CompPrices ("the tool", "we", "us") is an application that helps users compare pending future price changes against current shelf prices in their Shopfront store, so scheduled changes can be reviewed, filtered and exported without opening the Shopfront admin UI. This policy explains what information the tool collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

By creating an account and connecting your Shopfront store, you agree to the practices described below.

Information we collect

Account information

• A username you choose and a password. Your password is never stored in plain text — it is kept only in a securely hashed form.
• Sign-in session identifiers, which are stored only in hashed form and expire automatically.

Shopfront connection data

• The access credentials issued by Shopfront when you authorise the tool to connect to your store.
• The store (vendor) you connect, saved so you can reselect it later.

Store data accessed on your behalf

• Product, current price and pending future price information retrieved read-only from your Shopfront store so the comparison can be built and displayed.

The tool requests only the minimum, read-only access it needs to display this comparison. It does not request permission to edit products or change prices.

How we use information

• To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
• To connect to your Shopfront store and read product, current price and future price data.
• To build the side-by-side comparison and let you filter, sort and search it.
• To remember the stores (vendors) you have connected so you can reselect them.
• To generate CSV exports of the view you are looking at — exports are produced in your browser.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Storage and security

Account details, sign-in sessions and Shopfront connection records are held with a reputable cloud hosting provider. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are kept only in a securely hashed form — and session identifiers are likewise stored only in hashed form. The credentials used to connect to your store are stored so the tool can reconnect on your behalf. All traffic to and from the tool is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and sign-in and registration are protected against automated abuse.

Product, current price and future price data is read from Shopfront on demand to build the comparison and any CSV you export; it is not retained on our servers beyond what is needed to complete your requested action.

Data sharing

Your store data is exchanged only between you, this tool, and Shopfront's API. We rely on a reputable third-party cloud provider to host the tool and store account data, and on a third-party service to protect sign-in against automated abuse. We do not disclose your information to any other party except where required by law.

Data retention

Your account and saved store connections are retained while your account is active. You can disconnect a store at any time, which revokes the stored access credentials. To delete your account and associated data, contact us using the details below.

Your rights

• Request access to the information we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your account and data.
• Revoke the tool's access to your Shopfront store at any time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
